In Focus: 10 personal changes

We want changes but sometimes hold back the arrival of the new in our lives. Often we slow down, feel fear, doubt ... and get stuck. Is a step backward justified?

Let’s consider the urge for conscious changes by starting with ourselves.

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”

Charles Darwin

Change is inevitable. Whether we want or oppose it, time for a change always comes. They are difficult to accept, and it is even more difficult when it comes to getting out of the comfort zone. Some don’t want to change anything, persuade themselves that this is their fate and keep slaving away. After some time, it is difficult to recognize in them those who once wanted more. Glum look and lack of motivation make them drawn in routine and accumulate discontent. Sounds sad? Yes.

So, let's prepare for the new by changing the focus!

1. Get up early!

At first, it might be difficult to get used to the new regime, but in a time you will be able to appreciate how much progress you make. Morning time is the most valuable. In the morning, you have time to do much more than in the evening when you feel exhausted after the whole day. Don’t waste precious minutes, spend them profitably!

2. Do what you like!

Very often we don’t leave time for what we love. We manage to do a hundred tasks per day, spend evenings on social networks, waste hours by the TV. So, we forget what it’s like to watch the sunset, walk by the sea or draw a picture with acrylic paints. We have no time for this and explain it to ourselves by saying that there are more important things to do. But there is nothing more important than to do what you love. Remember about it!

3. Learn languages!

Sergei Starostin is an outstanding Russian linguist and polyglot who knew 400 languages and actively used 20 of them in his life. For a start, you can learn at least one! Every language means history, experience, traditions. By studying a new language, you discover a lot of the unknown and expand not only the vocabulary but also the horizon. Knowledge of English, Spanish or Italian can greatly help you both in entertainment and work. Just DO it!

4. Read!

Successful people start their morning not by surfing the Internet but by turning pages.
While your brain is not overloaded yet, you can perceive information much better. Don’t have time to read? Listen to audiobooks. Today, a huge number of people spend hours in traffic jams, while listening to lectures, recordings of seminars or audio materials on psychology, sociology or another topic of interest.
One book a week makes time wasting weak!

5. Enjoy your weekends!

Remember your ordinary weekend. How does it start? How do you spend it? How does it end? Now try to analyze it from the 5-year perspective. Are you sorry for missing something? It’s not too late to change it all. Think about what to fill your holidays with. Remember that you like and what you want. Go to museums, exhibitions, wander the streets of your city. There are so many interesting things around!

6. Make plans and set goals!

This activity can be very exciting. Take a sheet of paper and start visualizing your dreams. Victory in competitions, a trip, a house, a new job, a shiny car – anything. Then just add the deadline for the fulfillment of your endeavor and go for it!

7. Never cease to amuse!

We get used to patterns which we adopt as well as other people. You follow one and the same routes, follow the wheel to the direction known like the back of your hand, wear comfortable slippers when get at home and turn the kettle on with your right hand. What if tomorrow you change the route, turn the right instead, go barefoot and turn the kettle on with your left hand? You will feel different. But from that very moment something will elusively change in your consciousness, actions, and habits. You can do anything other way, that’s the point!

8. Travel!

Just like languages, new countries help you self-develop and boost motivation. There is no way to go to the other end of the world? Believe us, there are plenty of amazing places over the corner. Look for them, find a company and go on an adventure! Coming back home will be much more pleasant than it used to be when you were sitting there day by day!

9. Share!

You definitely have something to share with others. Read a book? Tell about it. Watched a movie? Write about it. Know something better than others? Share it with others, teach, give knowledge away. The more good you will embed in someone, the more you will get. So don’t be greedy and enjoy generosity!

10. Invest!

Make it a rule: love money and treat it carefully and competently. To begin with, start saving a small amount every month. Think about what you want to spend this money on and set a goal. When you save up the right amount, increase your income by investing money in something worthwhile that retains its value over time.
Gold - or rather investment gold bars – is a smart choice. Keep an eye on the market and do everything possible to feel safe.
